SaugertiesPro Musica's first concert of the 31st Season is by the Tekalli Duo, internationally acclaimed musicians: violinist Suliman Tekalli and his sister, pianist Jamila Hanner. They will perform two violin sonatas: Beethoven’s Sonata No. 5, Op. 24, and Saint-Saëns’ “Spring”: Sonata No. 1 in D minor, Op. 75. In addition, pieces by Korngold and Barber will be included as well as Songs from West Side Story by Bernstein. This year's Bard Students exemplify the superb musicianship and cooperative spirit we have come to expect from the Conservatory. Violinist Yu Echo and pianist Ivy Chen, working together since 2023, will be joined by Qijia Liu and Yushi Yao to perform a Brahms Piano Quartet plus a surprise violin sonata and more!

BIOS
Yu (Echo) Ran, a third-year violinist at Bard Conservatory from China, developed her passion for music through her father, a violin maker. She studies violin with Luosha Fang and is majoring in Psychology at the college. Yu Ran has won multiple first prizes in competitions in China and served as the concertmaster of the "Spring Symphony Orchestra." She won third prize in the "Academy Cup" at Wuhan Conservatory of Music in 2021 and was the winner of the 2024 Bard Conservatory Concerto Competition.
Jiayun (Ivy) Chen was born in Zhejiang, China. She currently studies piano under the guidance of Rieko Aizawa at Bard College Conservatory of Music. Ivy started playing piano at the age of four and she has been awarded prizes for both her individual and collaborative performances in China, her home country. Upon her arrival at Bard College, she has been active working in various chamber ensembles and performing in Catholic Masses. In the Fall of 2025, she started learning cimbalom with András Szalai. In addition to Piano Performance, Ivy also majors in Film Production at Bard. She enjoys incorporating her musical knowledge and experiences in her film work.
Qijia Liu was admitted to the Affiliated Primary School of Central Conservatory of Music in China in 2015. In 2021, he and his group won the award at the 5th Central Conservatory of Music Piano Chamber Music Competition, becoming the youngest winners in the competition. During his middle school years, he has held solo and chamber music concerts multiple times at well-known venues such as the Opera Hall of the Central Conservatory of Music, the Beijing Music Hall, the Rubinstein Music Hall, and Changsha Music Hall. He was admitted to Bard College with a full scholarship in 2024, now studying under Gil Shaham and Adele Anthony.
Yushi Yao, born in January 2006 in Wuhan, began studying cello at the age of seven. In 2015, she was admitted to the cello major at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music Affiliated Middle School. In 2018, she placed second in her major. She studied under teachers such as Long Man, Pan Yan, and He Sihao, and received guidance from famous artists such as Matti Rousi and Qin Liwei. During this period, she participated in major domestic and international competitions and achieved excellent results. She also performed at high-level venues such as Wuhan Qintai Concert Hall and Wuhan Theater. She is currently pursuing a dual degree at Bard College and has received a full scholarship from Bard Conservatory of Music, studying under the renowned cello master Professor Peter Wiley. During this period, she actively participated in music ensemble performances across different genres, including Chinese traditional music, contemporary music, and traditional Baroque ensembles.
Violinists Ari Isaacman-Beck and Carlos Rubio, violist Adrianna Linares, and cellist Jesus Morales, the multi-award-winning Philadelphia-based Dali Quartet (yes, named for Salvador!) are celebrated for their vibrant chamber music interpretations that blend classic European technique with soulful Latin American rhythm. Well-known to our audiences as a soloist, as well as performing on our stage in duos and trios, Yalin Chi has delighted our audiences over the years with her "gorgeous tonal coloring" and "masterful and flowing" piano repertoire (Leslie Gerber - Hudson Valley One). Her global performances include ZhongShan Music Hall in Beijing, Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York City, and Kumho Art Hall in Seoul.
An active chamber musician, Yalin is a founding member of Trio Raconteur and together with pianist Steve Beck performs as the At Once Duo.
Filip Pogady Piano Trio

Filip Pogády has been hailed by critics for his “beauty of tone,” “lightning-like virtuosity” (Russkoe Slovo) and“commanding performance” The NewYork Times, establishing himself as one of the most captivating violinists of his generation. A prodigious talent from an early age, Pogády gave his solo debut with orchestra at age 11 at the Wiener Konzerthaus after winning first prize in the Tsusuki Violin Competition—becoming the youngest contestant to do so.
But that is no surprise to our audience, as last year’s stand-in for the missing Italian pianist, Filip and cellist Ani Kalayjian received standing ovations – not just at the concert’s end, but after each piece! We had to have them back by overwhelming request – this time with his hand-picked pianist Peter Fancovic – to perform among other things, the great Brahms Piano Trio No. 1.
DOLPHINS STRING QUARTET March 14, 2027
Multi-talented, young, and energetic, violinists Luke Henderson & Isaac Park, cellist Ian Maloney, and violist James Preucil are the Dolphin String Quartet. Their goal is to unite spirits in sonic celebration of community through musical interpretation, innovation, and improvisation. They are a string quartet and composer collective dedicated to uniting spirits through musical interpretation, innovation, and improvisation. Based in New York City and formed at The Juilliard School, the Dolphins strive to make chamber music vibrant, relevant, personal, and reflective of our time. CreArtBox Piano Trio

Pianist Josefina Urrace and flutist Guillermo Laporta are co-directors of CreArtBox, a chamber music ensemble which produces art performances that fuse classical and contemporary music. They, along with their colleague, cellist Julia Yang, will play music by Ravel, Gaubert, and Carl Maria von Weber among others. CreArtBox was originally scheduled to perform last season, but the birth of Josefina’s baby daughter caused a postponement. We look forward to having them back on our stage.
